Reference Photo Guide

Choosing the right photo makes all the difference in capturing your pet’s personality. The clearer the photo, the more detail, light, and expression I can bring to your portrait. Here are a few simple tips to help you pick the perfect reference!

Clear and in focus – Avoid blurry or pixelated images. The more detail I can see, the more I can include in your portrait.
Good lighting – Natural light is best! Try near a window or outside (no flash).
Face visible – I need to clearly see your pet’s eyes, nose, and markings.
True colouring – Make sure the colours look natural and accurate.
✅ Collars, toys, blankets etc. – If you would like me to include a collar or accessory, or a favourite toy or blanket, make sure it is included in your reference photo.

Of course, capturing the perfect photo isn’t always possible—especially if your beloved pet is no longer with us. Feel free to attach multiple photos to your order, and I’ll help you choose the best one, or use them all to create the most accurate and heartfelt portrayal of your pet.

Example of a good reference photo

  • Suitable pose

Example of a bad reference photo

  • Poor, unnatural lighting
  • Low resolution, cannot see details clearly
  • Inaccurate representation of colours
